He was raised by Apollo, who taught him the art of medicine, music, archery, hunting, and prophecy. In contrast to the rest of the centaurs with the entire lower body of a horse, Chiron is depicted as having human legs in the front, making him easily recognizable. Chiron is a distinguished figure in Greek mythology, often called the wisest and justest of all centaurs. It is now regarded as part of a class of small Solar System bodies known as the centaurs. Chiron was initially classified as a minor planet though it was later found exhibiting behavior typical of a comet. Chiron, named after the famous centaur, the son of Cronus (Saturn) and Philyra in Greek mythology, is a centaur orbiting the Sun between Saturn and Uranus.
